Hover Weight

Seems I've gotten my official "holiday" weight gain figured out. Only 2.5lbs! Although those were 2.5 hard earned lbs., It shouldn't be too bad getting back down to good ole' 166. The biggest issue is getting over my cravings I developed over the last week!

The rubbing issue.

So my left small toe has been bothering me since November. I originally thought it was my Louis Garneau shoes, and dismissed it as so and stopped wearing them. I have since gave them to a teammate to try/buy from me, and purchased the new top of the line Shimano shoes. Yesterday I took of my new tennis shoes (more like skater shoes since they're Vans). When I got the shoe off I checked the tounge, and it comes into the shoe way up front where my little toe has been rubbing! All that trouble for a bad pair of shoes!

Won some money, won some respect...

So we had our "Christmas" group ride Saturday, and it went well. I ended up picking up $110.00, along with a little bit of respect from the team as well. I still have a ways to go to be Cat 3 material, but I'll get there. Nathan O'Neil showed up to ride with us for a bit too!
Today I had some family stuff to do, which usually means getting into arguments over my expensive bike, or the fact that my dogs sleep in the bed. It went okay, with a few normal "small" disagreements.

Recovery...AHHHH!

Last night was a recovery night, and with good reason! I've been riding so much lately that it seems my legs have begun to slowly become accustomed to the punishment. It's not until I ride a recovery ride that I realize how tired I actually am. These rides are an hour long at a 140-150 watt pace. Last night was no different, and felt great! Tonight I'm hitting up some intervals to get ready for my NGWCL ride tomorrow!
On another note, me losing down to 162 was definitely mostly water weight, as I weighed 166 this morning. Seems like a decent place to try and stay for a 6'2" racer to me for now. Hopefully I can keep it there thru next season! I think this past season I raced most the year at 183 lbs., with a lactate threshold of about 300 watts. I'm already at a lactate of 290 this winter, and weigh 166 lbs. This means my power/weight ratio has improved from 1.64 watts per pound this past season to 1.74 watts per pound this winter so far!

The first one.

So I decided to create this blog to keep track of my racing/training accomplishments. I figured if anyone is interested in bicycle racing and stumbles upon this, then great! I guess I should start out by giving a little info about who I am and where I stand right now in relation to my cycling. I am a category 4 racer who is in high hopes of moving up in the future. I love to time trial, and usually seem to do well in my ventures of doing so. I once weighed 325 lbs., and this morning weighed 162.5, which is exactly half the man I used to be! I'm 23 years old, am married, and have a little boy on the way, due March 7th, 2008. I can't think about much more to say than that, other than keep posted to see how I'm coming along in my training/racing in the months to come.
